Usabda Dress Code
New dress code starts this year.
The rules for the new dress code are as followed :
PRE-TEENS:
BOYS
Costume: Boys shall wear black or midnight blue trousers, with black socks, a white or black, long-sleeved shirt with a white or black tie or bow tie. The following options are allowed but not required: Boys’ pants may have an underfootstrap,
and they may wear a black belt with a small metallic buckle. Boys may wear a metallic tie clip for their ties or bow tie. The following are not allowed: Boys may not wear shirts with shiny or patterned materials or with wing collars. Boys may not wear their shirts with rolled –up sleeves or with shirttails un-tucked. Any article of clothing or accessory not described
in this section is strictly prohibited.
Decoration: None
Shoes: Black, leather, suede or patent leather, low heel (max. 1”).
Hairstyle: Short cut or long hair in ponytail.
Makeup: None
Jewelry: None
GIRLS
Costume: Girls shall wear a dress consisting of a single color, a skirt and white shirt, or a leotard or T-shirt and a skirt of the same single color. The skirt in all cases must cover the girl’s underwear and the panties must be the same color as
the skirt. The skirt should be plain or pleated made of one to a maximum of three half circles. One simple circular underskirt is allowed. Short socks of any color are allowed. Girls may wear flesh colored tights with short socks over the tights. The minimum skirt length is 4 inches above the kneecap and
maximum length falls just below the kneecap. The following are not allowed: No frills on the skirt or underskirt, no sequins, no rhinestones or any similar adornments. No flesh-colored, metallic or transparent materials are allowed. No boning,
soft boning or fishing line is allowed in the skirt or underskirt hem. No mesh tights of any color are allowed.
Decoration: None (no rhinestones, no feathers, no flowers, no bows, no fringe, no lace applications, no beads, no pearls, no sequins, or any similar adornments).
Shoes: Any color block (square) heel shoes (max. heel height 1.5 inches).
Hairstyle: No artificial hair, no hair ornaments, no colored hair spray, no glitter, no elaborate high hairstyle (i.e. “up dos”).
Makeup: None (no artificial eye lashes, no artificial nails, no artificial tan, no nail polish, no glitter).
Jewelry: None, except for one 1/4” round post per ear (no bracelets, no rings, no necklaces, no body piercing, no rhinestones, no glitter, no sequins).
JUNIOR I:
BOYS
Costume: Boys shall wear black or midnight blue trousers, with black socks, a white or black, long-sleeved shirt. The following options are allowed but not required: Black or midnight blue vest may be worn. Boys’ pants may have an underfoot strap, and they may wear a black belt with a small metallic buckle. Boys may wear a metallic tie clip for their ties or bow tie. Latin/Rhythm black or midnight blue shirt is optional. Black tie or black bow tie. Standard and Smooth boys may also wear white dress shirts, white or black ties or bow ties. The following are not allowed at all: Boys may not wear shirts with shiny or patterned materials nor with wing collars. Boys may not wear their shirts with rolled–up sleeves or with shirttails un-tucked. Any article of clothing or accessory not described in this section is strictly prohibited.
Decoration: None (no rhinestones, no glitter, no sequins, no beads)

GIRLS
Costume: The dress in all cases must cover the girl’s underwear and the panties must be the same color as the skirt. The dress does not have to be a single color and can have lace material, lace applications, flowers and fringe. Latin/Rhythm: areas between the hip line and the panty line as well as the breast area must be covered completely with opaque material, no high cut panties, no tangas/thongs, and no cuts below the hip line or transparent inserts in the panties. Panties must be covered completely by the skirt when standing. The tops of a twopiece
dresses cannot be a bra only. Standard/Smooth: Any color allowed
except flesh-color, no cuts below the waistline, no low (no cleavage showing) necklines, no transparent materials in the breast area or between the waist and the panty line. Breast area must be covered completely. If desired the skirt may be split no higher than the knee except for Smooth. THE FOLLOWINGARE NOT ALLOWED: Girls may not wear any flesh-colored, metallic, transparent, or glittery material. No sequins, rhinestones, beads, pearls or similar adornments are allowed. Junior I girls should not wear short socks and mesh tights are not allowed.
Decoration: None (no rhinestones, no feathers, no bows, no beads, no pearls, no sequins, or any similar adornments)
Shoes: Cuban or slim heel shoe (max heel height 2”heels).
Hairstyle: No artificial hair, no elaborate hair ornaments, no colored hair spray, no glitter, no elaborate high hairstyles (i.e. “up dos”).
Makeup: None (no artificial eye lashes, no artificial nails, no artificial tan, no glitter).
Jewelry: None, except for one 1/4” round post per ear (no rhinestones, no glitter, no sequins, no bracelets, no rings, no necklaces, no body piercing).
JUNIOR II: [If Junior I and Junior II events are combined, Junior II rules may be followed.]
BOYS:
For syllabus proficiency levels, Junior II competitors must follow the dress code for Junior I. Junior II competitors in Novice, Pre-Championship & Championship proficiency levels
may follow either the Junior I or the Youth, Adult & Senior Pre-Championship & Championship dress codes. This decision is at the discretion of the competitor.
GIRLS:
For syllabus proficiency levels, Junior II competitors must follow the dress code for Junior I. Junior II competitors in Novice, Pre-Championship & Championship proficiency levels may
follow either the Junior I or the Youth, Adult & Senior Pre-Championship & Championship dress codes. This decision is at the discretion of the competitor.
YOUTHS AND ADULTS:
MEN
Costume: Black or midnight blue trousers (underfoot strap optional), black belt (optional), black socks, black or midnight blue vest, pullover or cardigan (optional) – metallic tie clip allowed. Latin/Rhythm: White, black or midnight blue shirt (no shiny or patterned materials, no rolled up sleeves and shirt must be worn tucked in). Black tie or black bow tie optional. Standard/Smooth: White dress shirt (black or midnight blue shirt may be worn in Smooth), (no shiny or patterned materials, no rolled up sleeves, and shirt must be worn tucked in) white or black bow or standard tie, suspenders, black or midnight
blue cardigan or vest, tuxedo trousers, and cufflinks are allowed.
Decoration: None.
Shoes: Black shoes. Cuban heels will be allowed.
Hairstyle: Short cut or long hair in ponytail.
Makeup: Minimal make-up, (can wear eye-liner, mascara, lip stick, artificial tan but no artificial eye lashes, no artificial nails, no colored nail polish, no glitter).
Jewelry: None, except for one plain gold or silver 1/4” round post per ear and wedding and class rings (no rhinestones, no glitter, no sequins, no bracelets, no rings, no body piercing).
LADIES
Costume: The dress in all cases must cover the ladies underwear and the panties cannot be flesh colored. The dress does not have to be a single color and can have lace material, lace applications, flowers and fringe. Latin/Rhythm: areas between the hip line and the panty line as well as the breast area must
be covered completely with opaque material no high cut panties, no tangas/thongs, and no cuts below the hip line or transparent inserts in the panties. Panties must be covered completely by the skirt when standing. The tops of a two-piece dresses cannot be just a bra. Standard/Smooth: Any color allowed except flesh, no cuts below the waistline, no low (no cleavage) necklines, no
transparent materials in the breast area or between the waist and the panty line. Breast area must be covered completely. If desired the skirt may be split no higher than the knee except for Smooth. The following are not allowed: Ladies may not wear any flesh-colored, metallic, transparent, or glittery material. No sequins, rhinestones, beads, pearls or similar adornments are allowed.

Jewelry: Can wear necklace, rings, bracelet and/or earrings. No body piercing and
the Chair of Judges can ask any competitor to remove their jewelry if they deem it a danger to self or others.
YOUTH, ADULT AND SENIORS:
Novice, Pre-Championship and Championship categories and also Senior dancers in
all proficiency levels.
MEN
Costume: Latin/Rhythm: Black or midnight blue trousers (no transparent materials); any color shirt (except flesh color, no sleeveless shirts, shirt may be open to bottom of breast bone, and must be worn tucked in); vest, jacket, or bolero jacket the same color as the trousers are optional; and tie, bow tie, or scarf is optional, if a scarf is worn it must be tied and tucked inside the shirt. The amount of see through/transparent material used cannot exceed 25%. Standard: Black or midnight blue pants, white dress shirt, and white bow tie are allowed as are tails with all accessories such as: cuff links, suspenders,
waistcoat, or similar accessories typically associated with tail suits or formal wear. Smooth: Black or midnight blue pants, any colored dress shirt, and any color ties are allowed as are tails with all accessories such as: cuff links, suspenders, waistcoat, or similar accessories typically associated with tail suits or formal wear. A gentleman competing in Smooth may optionally wear
a short jacket or vest.
Decoration: No restrictions except that the use of religious symbols as decoration is not allowed.
Shoes: No restrictions.
Hairstyle: Short cut or long hair in ponytail.
Makeup: No restrictions.
Jewelry: No restrictions. No jewelry may be worn that may constitute a danger to competitors (including self). The Chair of Judges can ask the competitor to remove an item of jewelry if it presents a danger to self or others.
LADIES:
